Getting Started

What is Local Trade Network?
Local Trade Network is a local marketplace for farms, makers, home kitchens, and service providers. Buyers browse nearby listings and sellers manage their own storefronts.
Do I need an account to browse?
Browsing can be done without an account in the current frontend experience. You only need to sign in when you want to buy, sell, or manage your profile.

Buyer Accounts

How do I create a buyer account?
Open the sign up page, choose the buyer role, and complete the form. The current frontend uses the same shared sign in and sign up flow for buyers and sellers.
Can I save items for later?
The current storefront focuses on browsing, searching, and buying. Saved items and other account features can be expanded later without changing the core marketplace flow.

Seller Accounts

How do I become a seller?
Use the seller sign up path in the authentication flow. From there you can create a shop profile and start listing products or services.
Do sellers need Stripe?
Yes. Seller payouts are handled through Stripe Connect so each seller receives funds through their connected account.

Browsing and Searching

How does category browsing work?
You can browse top-level and nested categories from the header or from category pages. The current structure supports multiple tiers so buyers can move from broad groups to specific products.
Can I search by category?
Yes. The search bar can route to a category page or a general search page depending on the selected category and search text.

ZIP Code and Mileage Radius

Why do I enter a ZIP code?
ZIP code helps the marketplace focus on nearby sellers and local availability. It is part of the current frontend browsing flow.
What does the mileage radius do?
The radius narrows browsing to a larger or smaller local area. It helps buyers look nearby without changing the rest of the marketplace design.

Ordering

How do orders work?
Buyers place orders through the marketplace and complete checkout through the existing frontend flow. Sellers then handle fulfillment for pickup or local delivery when offered.
Can I order from multiple sellers?
The storefront is organized around individual listings and seller pages. The order flow can be expanded as the platform grows.

Pickup and Local Delivery

Where do I pick up my order?
Pickup is available at the seller's location when the seller offers it. The exact pickup details come from the seller listing.
Do all sellers offer delivery?
No. Local delivery is optional and is only available when a seller chooses to offer it.

Payments Through Stripe

Who processes payments?
Stripe processes payment information where applicable. The frontend does not store full payment-card details.
How are seller payouts handled?
Seller payouts are handled through Stripe Connect and go to the seller's connected Stripe account.

Buyer and Seller Fees

What fees apply?
The marketplace uses a total 5% checkout fee split evenly between buyer and seller. The buyer pays 2.5% and the seller pays 2.5%.
Where can I learn more?
Visit the Seller Fees page for the current fee summary and example calculation.

Seller Product Listings

What can sellers list?
Sellers can list food, farm goods, handmade items, and local services that fit the marketplace categories and policies.
How should listings be written?
Listings should be accurate, clear, and match the product or service being offered. Good photos, correct pricing, and honest descriptions help buyers make informed choices.

Seller Payouts

How do payouts reach the seller?
Funds are paid to the seller's connected Stripe account through Stripe Connect.
Can payout timing change?
Payout timing is not described in this draft. The page keeps the policy neutral until the platform finalizes those details.

Reviews

Can buyers leave reviews?
Review support can be added around completed purchases and seller profiles. The current frontend already reserves space for ratings and seller feedback.
What should reviews focus on?
Reviews should reflect the actual marketplace experience, including product quality, communication, pickup, and delivery when relevant.

Advertisements

How do ads appear on the site?
The marketplace includes promotional areas such as banners, side-scrolling promos, and video ad placements in the existing frontend.
Do ads change product listings?
No. Promotional sections are separate from regular product listings and do not change the product grid itself.

Account and Security

What should I do if I have trouble signing in?
Use the login page, verify your details, and check the Help Center for common account issues.
How is account access handled?
The frontend keeps authentication flows separate for buyers and sellers while sharing the same site shell and branding.

Contacting Support

How do I contact support?
Use the Contact page form or open the Help Center from the footer to find the right self-serve topic first.
What should I include in a support message?
Share the page you were using, what you expected to happen, and any relevant account or listing details so the issue is easier to understand.
